Dispersed poems

São Paulo, Companhia das Letras, 2008

The poetic work of Vinicius de Moraes is much greater than it was published during his lifetime. Full-time poet, left stored in his private dossier a considerable amount of material of the highest quality. After his death, researchers had access to this collection, preserved by his family in the care of Casa Rui Barbosa Foundation.

In 1991, the writer Ana Miranda assembled part of this unprecedented collection in the book “Jardim Noturno” (Night Garden), published by Companhia das Letras as part of the reprint of Vinicius’s work. In 2008, a period  of another reprint by the same publisher of his complete work, Ana’s doing was incorporated into the broader research  of Eucanaã Ferraz. Additionally, a poet and expert in Vinicius’s work, the organizer of the new volume denominated it as “Poemas Esparsos” (Dispersed Poems).

Covering a broad period between the 1930s and 1970s, the book presents multiple poetic facets of Vinicius throughout his strength and lyricism. The book complements the official production of the poet, by presenting a high-quality material, even unpublished for its period.
